The ideal first stop on any traveller's itinerary, this remarkable glittering complex of temples and palaces is ornately decorated in the traditional Thai style. Wat Phra Kaeo, the royal chapel, houses the Emerald Buddha, the most sacred Buddha in all of Thailand.
One of the oldest and largest temples in Bangkok, Wat Pho is nearly 200 years old and is home to the gigantic and famed Reclining Buddha. The Buddha is 46 metres long, 15 metres high and inlaid with exquisite mother-of-pearl.
Arguably the most beautiful temple in Bangkok, Wat Arun is located on the west bank of the Chao Phraya River. Inlaid with shells and porcelain, the Temple of Dawn reflects the first light of day, though the most beautiful view of Wat Arun may be seen from the opposite side of the river at sunset.

Close to the Grand Palace, the National Museum is one of the largest, most comprehensive museums in Southeast Asia. The museum's buildings house over one thousand artifacts ranging from Neolithic times to the present. The picturesque complex was begun in 1782 and boasts traditional Thai architectural design.
Located across from the National Museum, the National Gallery Museum exhibits traditional and contemporary art by Thai artists.
An old-style Thai house owned and restored by American Jim Thompson during the mid 20th century. Though Thompson’s story is shrouded in mystery, he is credited with reviving the Thai silk industry. His house, now a museum, displays his breathtaking home as well as Thompson’s collection of artifacts and antiques.
Phra Thi Nang Vimanmek is the world’s largest teak palace. Built without using a single nail, the wooden palace was inhabited by King Rama V from 1901-1906. Nearby Abhisek Dusit Throne Hall is Thailand’s first handicraft museum where Her Majesty the Queen collects handicrafts and masterpieces.
One of the largest markets in the world, Chatuchak Weekend Market sells over one thousand local products including pets, handicrafts, plants, antiques and clothing.
